CT Failsafe discontinued
Is this true, any info? I tried to locate a press release or something but came up dry. However word is the bullet is not being manufactured and some places (state side) are blowing them out or have already dumped their stock.
SupposedlyWinchesters XP3introduction= FS gone. |
RE: CT Failsafe discontinued
Not surprised. Next to the Lost River Ballistics, this is about the deepest penetrating "expanding" bullet out there. All that penetration comes at the expense of a smaller wound channel. They don't kill very well on broadside rib shots. Good for shoulder breaking and Texas heart shots. But so is a FMJ.

RE: CT Failsafe discontinued
they have supposedly been discontinued since about 1997-98, but ive seen them in cabelas every year since then........... who knows, honestly I never cared for them. perhaps they arent makin them anymore but im sure CT & Olin
manufactured a bazillian and half of them in each caliber and they arent all that popular so id imagine you will still beable to buy them for awhile. for example you can still get surplus 7.62 nato from the vietnam war era just to give you an idea. |
RE: CT Failsafe discontinued
well they still got them on there website i recommend you look since the xp3 line is just another line on top of their supreme ammo line. im guessing winchester doesnt plan to discontinue them anytime soon.

RE: CT Failsafe discontinued
The failsafe bullet comes very highly reccommended by every article I've seen written on it. I'm considering loading it in 338 for elk this year so I've done a lot of research and didn't see any talk of it being discontinued.
I wouldn't believe this rumor. However, the rumor about Winchester closing its door is sad but true. |
