Anyone Reloading 270s ?
I was wondering if anyone is reloading 270s and if so could I pay you to reload me some. I would like to find the right bullet to hunt WT deer in Alberta Canada. These bucks go between 250 to 400 lbs out to about 400 yards... I shoot a Belgium Browning FN Mauser bolt action rifle. Please PM me if you have any ideas ...

DD
I am starting to reload a little for myself, but I have no intention of shooting reloads at "trophy" deer. I may doe hunt with them around my place here in Texas, but on my Oklahoma trip(s), I will be shooting factory ammo. JMHO. Jeff S. |

As you build up some confidence in you reloading skillsyou'll prob change your mind on this. I trust what I do more then whats done for mass production and with more experience you prob will also. |
RE: Anyone Reloading 270s ?
Good gosh retrieverman - I've been loading for over 40 years. I can't remember shooting anything with factory ammo. I think it was a black bear with my then new 45-70 guide gun and some puny little 300 gr Remington cartridges. I've never had any accidents at the bench and never had a misfire with a handload.

RE: Anyone Reloading 270s ?
Same here. I did have one misfire in 40 years of reloading. Got some 7MM Rem Mag virgin brass once and loaded up a batch. The one round that misfired turned out to have been made without a primer flash hole. I did run these through the full length die to true up the necks, but I didn't run them in there all the way. Otherwise, the broken de-capping pin would have been a red flag that something was amiss.

Gentlemen
I thank you for your input, andI may change my mind as I get some experience.Since there are so many experienced reloader here, someoneought to be able to help DD out with some 270reloads. He will probably need about a case of ammo because his body count tends to be large.:)LOL |
RE: Anyone Reloading 270s ?
ORIGINAL: eldeguello As a matter of fact, even today, the only reason I shoot a factory-loaded cartridgeis to get an empty case to reload! |
RE: Anyone Reloading 270s ?
I have been shooting reloads for hunting for 30 years and don't trust factory ammo. In fact the worst trouble I have ever gotten into with my wife was one year when I bought her a new gun to use and did nothave time to reload some ammo for her so I brought a couple of boxes of factory so she could take the new rifle hunting. To make a long story short she got a shot at a very nice 6 point bull elk and had a missfire with the factory ammo and the bull got away. [&o]I can not repeat the words that came out of my wifes mouth after that! Even though I said it was the fault of the factory ammo, her option was it was MY fault because I did not load her some "good" ammo. Needless to say I will NEVER make that mistake again.
