Triggers for the Savage 110 action
I am buying one of thenew Stevens Model 200 rifles. It has gotten great reviews except for the trigger. Basically they say it has about a 5 lb. pull and not adjustable.
It has a Savage 110 action and I'd like to know which adjustable triggers are available for that action. By the way, I'm a newbie here, looks like a great forum. Thanks in advance for your help. Reddbow |
RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
You can have a gunsmith perform a trigger job on it for you. It will cost less than a new trigger.
The triggers in the 200 are simply the old Savage 110 trigger system. It is adjustable somewhat and a good trigger job can do wonders for them. |

Thanks bigbulls,
I'll check that out before I invest in a trigger. I just hopeI can find a local gunsmith who can do it. Reddbow |
RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
I was reading a thread on Savage shooters forum the other day that dealt with this same question. A guy put a Rifle Basix trigger on his Stevens 200 and said it worked pretty good. I think you can get them from Brownells for around $69. From what I read though, it was not an easy install and the instructions were not that clear, a good smith should be able to help.

RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
Very very easy to adjust. All of them are either adjustable and or workable down to 2 LBS with any basic knowledge.

Well Pop! I just don't have even the basic knowledge concerning trigger adjusting in any form. But I'll look into it. Thanks.

RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
I bought and put in a rifle basix myself for a 110, it didn't seem too difficult for me.

RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
I think that most of thoes claims about rifle basic triggers being hard to install are made by people who are all thumbs, I've read the replies on Midway where people complained of difficulty installing the trigger and by the way the reviews were written I think thoes people have trouble tying their shoes.

RE: Triggers for the Savage 110 action
Why not buy a Savage 111FXP3 that comes from the factory with the fully adjustable Accu-Trigger. The rifle is only slightly higher than the model 200 & it comes with a factory mounted and bore sighted scope. This way you won't need to invest in gunsmith work or buy a new trigger. You can pick up your rifle, ammo, & head to the range.
On another note please carefully clean the bore and chamber of your rifle before firing it. I also like to remove the action from the stock and remove all of the excess oil an packaging grease before I fire a rifle for the first time. |
