I would say you are in good shape. You are in line with what the book says, however, you should check the OAL to be sure you are not jamming the bullet into the lands! This can and does cause excessive pressure. When you are loading at the top of the chart.....you need to be off the lands by 20 to 50 thoudandths.......this will keep the pressure down. If you don't have an OAL gague.....get one. They are cheap and provide the greatest margin of safety and will improve you accuracy dramatically. Good luck and regards, Rick.

Well, generally if you have to beat the bolt open with a rubber mallet, you hit some high pressure around 90KPSI.:D Other than that, primer signs really depend on teh primer. Winchester shot good pressure sign, but federals are very soft and appear high pressure most of the time. Now if you find a load you like and on your third firing of the brass you can real easily seat the primer or it falls out, your probably kicking in the 65 to 70K PSI range.

I second that, plus the real obvious sign of case cracking, sunken case heads and heavy wearing of the entrance to the barrel.

Flat primers don't NECESSARILY mean excessive pressures! How hard is it to seat a new primer in the fired cases? If you feel the same amount of pressurte is required to get the new primers in as it was before you fired the rounds, you are on pretty same ground - I want at least 10 reloadings out of a batch of brass before the primer pockets get too loose........
