Question about factory pistol loads...

How come 44 mag ammo is almost double the price of other factory rounds. 50 count box of most ammo is $9.99 on average and even the 10mm is only about $13 a box, yet 44 mag is mostly $20 a box.

Brass?
Lead?
Powder?
Primer?

What gives??? I know I need to reload, but there are restrictions on me (wife, workshop room, etc.) so...

it uses more brass, more lead (often but not always), more powder.
they could also just charging that much because thats what it the most econmical
yes reloading is much better. i bought everything i needed to reload for 100 bucks. now for the price 5 boxes of .44mag, you can set up. and it takes almost not room to set up a reloader, and you can always make a movable mount for your press so that there is no room taken up.

Try buying 454 Casull or 472 Linebaugh ammo, you will think $20 is a deal.

Yeah I reload also but I might on occasion buy a box. I can always use the brass again at least.
