leverevolution ?

A friend brought an article to work the other day about a pointed polymer tip bullet design that Hornady is marketing for lever guns with tubular magazines. The tip is apparently pliable enough to not set off the primer but stiff enough to give good flight characteristics. The tests show impressive improvements (in the 30-30 tested) over standard round/flat tip ammo. All I've found so far is loaded rounds advertised for several lever calibers, i.e. 30-30, 35 Rem, 45-70, etc.

Has anyone else seen these and does anyone know if they are offering the bullets loose for reloaders?

RE: leverevolution ?

We have gotten some of the 30-30 rounds in the store and the tip is exactly as described. They are too soft to dent a primer but do spring back to a point when not under pressure. No way they could set off a primer. Right now the only thing available is 30-30 and 35 Rem. The .444, 45-70, and 450 marlin will be out in the Spring.

From what I understand the bullets themselves will be available some time next year.

Thanks for the info and I look forward to trying some out when they come out. I reload for my 30-30 now with 150 round nose Winchester bullets and 3031 and get good results, dropped a buck this year at 150 yards in his tracks. These bullets look like they should perform even better.

Thanks again.

I can't wait for the 35 Rem. bullets for my Marlin. The least expensive rifle I own, but still my favorite.

I'm waiting for the 45-70 to use in my guide gun. When do you figure the relaod bullets will hit the market?
