Scirocco bullets - Readme First B4 buying!!!

Just finished reloading a box and a half for my 7mm RM. They are more tapered at the shoulder and thus I had to seat them about .090" deeper than my rifling would dictate due to they wouldn't fit in the magazine of my rifle. I have a detachable mag. on my Browning A-bolt rifle.

Just glad I noticed before I took them hunting. I usually never even load the mag. when shooting at the range. I will from now on.

Hopefully accuracy will still be ok as I really think these could be a good bullet for both deer and elk.

All the RUM's have a freebore. Good luck.

Since Nosler Partition Jacket(NPJ) bullets have worked really well for me for the past 40 years, I rarely consider using anything else for hunting. For load development, I generally use Sierras, then switch to the NPJ's when loading the hunting ammo.

Keep yore powder dry!!

Handloader1-I have two ultramags and have loaded for two more and none have any great amount of freebore. My bullets sit about .050" off the rifling. In my old weatherbies it was more like .200" due to alot of freebore.Power did say the 7mm rm not the 7mm ultra.

Power:

Sorry about that I stuck U where it should not have been. Good luck.

Stubblejumper:

I spoke to Remington, and they told me the all RUM calibers do have a freebore.

Shot about a box of them tonight and they don't seem to shoot any different than my other loads. Not great night with the rifle, all groups around 2-3". The good news is my last group with the Scirocco's was 2 1/2" at 200 yards.

Heading to range again tomorrow.

Power -I hope those2 to 3" groups are all at 200 yards and not 100 yards.I would not however make any judgement on a load based on the last single group.I average all my groups to judge a load as one small group is not an indication of a great load.

All groups were around 2-3", 4 @ 100 yards and 4 @ 200 yards.

If this wind dies down I'll be at the range tonight with a bench rest. Last night was over the hood of the truck so maybe off a bench it will be better. I'm hoping I get a chance to shoot at 300 yards and that will determine my max range with load. I need to figure what the drop will be on those with a 200 yard zero...

Never had good luck out them. Don't know why. Tryed 180gr Scirrocos out of 300RUM. Tryed H1000, Re22, with no luck. Also tryed several seating depths.
