Barnes TSX loading Data

Anyone have the stat's on loading the Barnes TSX 180 gr. for 300 RUM? How much max charge for each of the powders listed? Can't find a book around here, traveled a 260 mile round trip to Sportsmans Warehouse in Spokane and they were out of books. Guess I could try to buy one over the internet, but all I want is the data for that one bullet. I have data for the 180 scirrocco BT, can I use that data? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Lucky you didn’t buy the book because you would have been disappointed. They don’t have the TSX listed in there last book. I contacted Barnes and the new book should be coming out soon. How long that is, I’m not sure but you could e-mail them to get loads if no one here give you any info.

I have two 300 ultramags and use the 180gr tsx in both.I use 88gr of r-25 in one rifle and 93gr of r-25 in the other rifle. One rifle produces 3360fps and the other 3380fps.The difference in powder charge seems large for such similar velocities but I m using different lot#s of powder for each and the barrels and throat lengths are different as well.In both cases the col is 3.670" and the primers are fed-215.

Holy cow, your kidding. Now thats wild. 5gr delta same velocity. wonder what would happen if you swapped ammo between guns. I wonder if the dominating factor is powder lot or rifles. I would be leary shooting the 93gr load in the other rifle as you probably are.

I got up to 92gr RL25 and 180gr TSX before bearly seeing pressure signs.

My rifles showed the first pressure signs at 90gr and 95gr so I backed each charge weight down a full 2 grains asI always do with the larger capacity cases.

If I remember correctly, some of the guys said that the scirrocco's showed sign of excessive pressure before the barnes of the same weight did....so I should be ok using the scirrocco data for the barnes? Says I can go 90.5 gr Reloader 22 for the 180 scirrocco max. with Lyman reloading data.

RE: Barnes TSX loading Data

Barnes suggest that you use the standard reloading tables and then increase by .5 gr increments until you get sign of too much pressure. (sticking bolt, flattened primers, ect.). I reload for my -06 and with using H4350 I'm at 56 gr with 180 gr bullets. No problems.
