H4350?
I just picked up a pound of H4350 to try with the 165 grain Nosler Partitions in my .30-06. I am trying to find a good load to work with, and have tried IMR 4350, 4895, 3031 (haven't gotten a chance to shoot the 3031 at 100 yds yet, but it does look quite promising). IMR 4350 and 4895 will give me 2" at 100 yards, and I am trying to get just a little bit tighter.
I just have a question where everyone who uses H4350 is getting the best accuracy in terms of from the min to max amounts one can use with any particular bullet and cartridge. Are you getting the best loads with the higher charges, minimum charges, middle of the road? Don't think I am going to just start at max cause someone said that is where they get the best accuracy, just want to see if it would be worth it to working up closer to max providing my rifle will handle the pressure. Thanks. |
RE: H4350?
You have probably used this before, but every firearm is different. You are just going to have to experement, but that is half the fun. Good luck.

RE: H4350?
I have found IMR 4064 to be more accurate and faster...at least in my Sakos. Around 50 to 51 grains does it for me. Regards, Rick.

RE: H4350?
It was recommended in my 300win mag but I found alot more accuracy out of H4831.
Everygun has a sweet load. I load alot of 270win with IMR 4831 and find the powder to work well. H4350 works the best in my 375 h/h If you have a slower twist barrel I would recommend the slower buring powders. Especially in the larger calibers. |
RE: H4350?
Charlie,
ADI produces most Hodgdon powders. In Australia H4350 is more commonly known as AR2209. I have found that AR2209 is "THE POWDER"to use in my Ruger M77 30-06. Although I don't use Nosler 165gn Partitions, my Rugerdoes shoot good groups at 100m with Speer 165gn SP HotCors and 57gns of AR2209producing2780ft/s. ![]() ....and excellent groups at 100m using Nosler 180gn AccuBonds with 55gns of AR2209 producing2670ft/s. ![]() I achievethe best accuracy with the projectile seated 0.015" off the rifling. Yes, the 180gn AccuBonds do fit in the magazine (just). IMO you have the ideal powder for the 30-06, and justneed to experiment with various powder charges to determine the load for your rifle projectile combination. |
