Shotgun shell reloading

Decided to start loading my own shotgun shells. Been loading rifle for many years, but need to expand my reloading horizons.

I'm having a tough time finding accurate info on reloading shotshells. I will be doing 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 loads. The 3 1/2 being mainly steel shot.

Anyone have a good website or personal information in regards to type of loads, the types of items used in those loads (wads, powder, shot, primers), etc...

Appreciate your input.

Robert

as far as components go, you opened up a can-o-worms there, bro...

I use AA hulls for my skeet & trap loads, and actually those black lowbrass Remington "Game Load" hulls for my field loads...

now, when you look in a reloading manual, you have to match the wad to the hull... most manuals will say something like "AA hull, WW wad # blah blah "white", 1oz lead shot, 7.3 gr IMR 700x MEC bushing #23 or someting like that...

so make sure you match your stuff up for good results...

I thought of buying an adjustable charge bar for my MEC, but bushings are cheap in comparison

Some of the shotshell reloading books(extensive ones) will have a lot of different loads, and one can use the same plastic wad for all. Check around, and you can find some, somewhat universal wads so you won,t have to change wads, nitro cards, ect all the time.Lyman puts out a r eal good book and so does that ballistic products that vapodog has mentioned. vangunsmith

The Lyman 4th Edition Shotshell Manual has a wealth of information on reloading everything but steel shot. I would reccomend it to anyone loading shotshells. They might have a newer manual out by now, it's been a few years since I purchased mine.
