I saw this yesterday. Even though I only have a 1 lb jug, I checked just to make sure. Its not part of the recall. Thanks for posting.

This is the reason I have moved away from alliant. I find thier lot to lot consistency sucks from RL15 to RL25 and they keep having recalls on powders I count on. Like RL22 and now unique.

Yep, the problem they had with RL22 a couple or three years ago and now this has got me leaning away from Alliant too. I think I'll stick with Hodgdon/IMR from now on. These have never given me any pause.

That sure doesn’t sound like good news. I’ve never used this brand of powder before and now that I have just purchased some RL19 & RL22 this comes up. Maybe I’ll get terrible groups and I won’t have to use it.

RE: Alliant Powder Recall

Its sure isnt' that you would get terrible groups, just when you run out of powder and get some more, velocity could be higher or lower by 50fps or more. Maybe pressure signs, maybe even better groups. Bottom line is consistency.

I love Unique but its dirty. I use it mainly in 40SW and .44 mag.

This kind of error is very bad.....packaging a very fast powder as Bullseye into containers labeled Unique is a near disasterous thing to do.

However Hodgdon also has had their recalls for the same reason.....mislabeled... and theirs has been the opposite way.....but mislabeled is still mislabeled.....if one thinks he's going to avaoid this type of error by moving to Hodgdon he's just misinformed.

I'm absolutely certain that I bought some mislabeled powder from AA several years ago and they never had a recall.....I was lucky that that stuff didn't destroy my Swift but I was lucky to have it in a very good action that held the load even though it caused a partial meltdown of the casing.

These errors seem inexcusable yet they happen. At least Alliant and Hodgdon will tell you and try to correct the error to the extent possible.

Oh, inform up oh informed? How many times compared to alliant has hodgdon had recalls? It all boils down to consumer trust. If you as a consumer goes to a garage to have your car fixed and they just so happen screw up 2 of your cars, but another person has not in same about of trips, who will you trust? Sure garage 1 could have a perfect record beside your car. I use H1000, retumbo, Varget, H4831, H110, HP38, HS6 and H335, and not had to worry about consistency or recalls so far. I don't use 4227. But use or used to use RL22, 25, RL15, and Unique and Bulleye. 2 out of the 5 has had recalls, one I was affected. Who am I going to go with?
