Working up an Antelope load for a .270
 

Does anyone have a strong opinion regarding .270 bullet selection for Antelope? I plan onthe keeping the hide...

I dont know what terrain you are gonna be hunting, but if it were me and the terrain I hunt id want to go with the lighter end of the 270 bullet selection in the 130 grain class antelope being a smaller animal you really dont need to hit them with a sledge hammer, Accuracy and flat trajectory would be the ticket Id go with either hornadys 130 grain interbond or better yet the 120 grain barnes X bullet which should give awesome trajectory. as for powder id try H4831 with either bullet H4831 will put you over 3,000 fps. good luck

Funny you should mention the 120Gr X bullets. I have a box on my desk right here. The trouble is they have been discontinued by Barnes. I can't see working up a load for a bullet I can get anymore of. The store wouldn't let me exchange them for a different product after I bought these obsolete bullets off their shelf. . It's Buyer-Beware at 'Arizona Sportsman' stores.

I shot a nice buck last year at 250 yards with the 130 gr. Hornady SST. Worked real well; exiting on a broadside rib shot and leaving only a 1" exit hole. Good luck. Roskoe

I had awesome performance with 130 grain Nosler Ballistic tips on goats.....

Does anyone have any pet load for the Barnes TSX (.277 triple shock)?

Although it doesn't produce quite as much speed as some of the slower powders, I have gotten good accuracy with IMR 4350 and the Barnes 130 grain X bullet.

55 gr of IMR4350; Nosler 130 Ballistic tip; .75 MOA - 2 antelope, 2 mulies - 5 shots total. enough said.
