Help, consistency problem
OK here's the deal. I reload 40 S&W that gets shot thru 2 different pistols. Pistol 'A' gives many misfires, the primer is dented, but it doesn't go off. Pistol 'B' never has any malfunction. Pistol 'A' shooting factory loads has never had a malfunction. So what am I doing wrong? Should I try switching brands of primers or have pistol 'A' checked out? Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Help, consistency problem
if you are using cci primers, i have heard that they require a little more umph to snap. or you might be seating the primers fully. thats all i can think of
propmahn you can never have too many guns |
RE: Help, consistency problem
Is this a problem that has just recently started and are you using CCI primers? Not too long ago there were some bad batches of CCI primers that got out. Also pay attention to the depth when seated.

RE: Help, consistency problem
Yes they are cci primers. When I 1st was having problems I checked my primer seating and it is fine. My 1st case of cci gave me no problems, but this one is the one that has given me this problem.

Wimp, try some Federal Primers!!
Keep yore powder dry!! |
RE: Help, consistency problem
I personally had this happen to me with several boxes of CCI primers, I now use Winchester pretty much exclusively now. Federal are supposed to be very good also.

RE: Help, consistency problem
Hey, thanks for this guys. I was having the same problem with some handloads using CCI primers. Guess I'll have to get some Federal ones next time. Good timing as I'm off to the store tonight for components.
