Default What kind of primers/powder

I am just getting into reloading and I've read that the 300 short mags like certain kinds of powder. Just wondering if some one can recomend a powder and primer that will work. I will be reloading a 180gr bullet

Just about any powder listed in a reloading manual will work in them. Especially RL15 and IMR4350.

IMR4350 or H4831sc works great.

I personally like Federal primers but they all work. I use 4350 in my 270wsm, others get good results with re19, re22, 4831 and 4831sc.

I've standardized on Winchester's WLR primers, they are a bit hotter than standard, but not as hot as magnums. In my smaller capacity rifles they ignite ball powders just fine. They are certainly worth a try in your short magnums.

yeah Ive done the same thing, had good luck with Win primers, if you do try Federals, Ive heard (internet) that if using a hand priming tool to be careful, (they are softer??) I have loaded some Federals with no problems, but I wear safety glasses (always) to be sure.

I use CCI BR-2 LR Benchrest primers in all of my standard calibers and Winchester LR Magnums in my .300 win mag.

Long, you can use standard here in MD, but I would opt for a federal 215. Especially if you going to use RL22 or 4831sc or slower. Give both primers a try. Sometimes you can be surprised at its results.

I would use large rifle magnum primers for that round. It's a lot of powder to light. If you don't already have one, pick up one of the popular reloading manuals (Nosler, Speer, etc). They'll help you get started right.
