In 2016 the American people had split the 2 bodies of government that nominate and confirm supreme court justices. We let the American people decide. In 2020 there is no such split, the American people have put republicans in charge of both.

Expecting a republican president and republican controlled Senate to wait and see if they retain power before putting judges in place is crazy talk. That is never ever happening with either party..never ever and its a plum stupid concept.


bottom line..........in 2016 the democrats didn't have the power to get it done.....in 2020 the republicans do.

That is correct. it used to be that the advice and consent of senators regarding judicial appointments focused on determining if the candidate was suitable and competent to be a judge. The Democrats changed this, however, to be a political process. They have voted to put activist judges on the court -- justices whose modus operandi is to make law from the bench rather than interpreting the constitution. Roe is a perfect example for that. The constitution does not speak of abortion. Roe is based on extracting from the due process clause of the 14th amendment a woman's right to have an abortion. Let that sink in. Supposedly, according to Roe, a woman's right to an abortion was implied in, was inherent in, was intended by the framers of the 14th amendment and was intended so by all those who approved that amendment to make it become part of the constitution. I'm calling BS on that. No. That is just a plain example of a court making law because they are activist hacks and knew they could never accomplish their will any other way -- no US legislature was ever going to pass a law that mandated abortion is legal in all states. On the other hand, these same Democrats voted against and depth charged perfectly competent judge candidates nominated by Republican presidents because the offending candidates did not pass the ideological tests of the Democrats. I repeat: the Democrats have made this a highly partisan process.

In the context of a partisan process . . . guess what, people are going to behave in a partisan way.

Face the music. Trump names an appointee Saturday. The Senate will vote to approve this candidate before the November election. it is a done deal. And the judge will probably be more conservative/originalist than otherwise might have been the case before the partisanship got dialled up in the Kavanaugh case.

The Kavanaugh appointment revealed the extreme partisanship of the Democrats. This simply unveiled the process. Decorum? Fairness? Hell no. It is just a partisan war from here on out. Take no prisoners. The Democrats started it.
