Pelosi Doesn’t Have the Guts to Bring Impeachment Inquiry Up for Vote

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is intent on putting off any full House vote that would add some semblance of legitimacy to the Democratic Party’s unofficial impeachment inquiry. Mind you, we’re not talking about putting articles of impeachment themselves up for a vote. No, Pelosi is too scared to even put the idea of starting an inquiry to the floor of the House.

This can mean one of two things: One, she’s not confident that she’s got enough Democrats in her pocket willing to go on record for this witch hunt, or, two, she’s afraid of what a vote might mean in terms of opening this process up to Republicans. Either way, it only solidifies the fact that this is a wholly partisan procedure that has nothing at all to do with the House of Representatives’ constitutional duties.

“The move came amid opposition from key chairmen and members of leadership, as well as a number of centrist Democrats facing tough reelection bids,” reports Politico. “Trump, White House officials and Republicans on Capitol Hill have seized on the absence of such a vote as an unacceptable break with House precedent and have vowed to resist what they describe as an illegitimate probe.”

Exactly. There is no reason at all why the White House should feel compelled to cooperate with an inquiry being done without majority support in the House. If this is to be the way the inquiry will be conducted, why did Democrats even bother waiting until they won last year’s elections? They could have held their little “inquiry” when they were in the minority, and it would have meant about as much as it does now. This is nothing more than a media-driven sideshow, and to even use the word “impeachment” in conjunction with it is to simply repeat Democratic campaign propaganda.

“There’s no requirement that we have a vote, and at this time, we will not have a vote,” Pelosi said Tuesday. “We’re not here to call bluffs. We’re here to find the truth, to uphold the Constitution of the United States. This is not a game for us, this is deadly serious.”

You’re not here to call bluffs? This entire sham IS a bluff. You’re actively lying to your constituents. This is not a real impeachment inquiry. Indeed, we see no evidence that anything at all changed when that Ukraine whistleblower came forward. The rhetoric got a little more pointed, and the media’s adoring coverage got a little more blatant, but that’s about all. You’re going to impeach Donald Trump the way Michelle Obama is going to run for the nomination: In your fantasies.

The truth is, Pelosi’s swing-district Democrats can’t afford to put their names on this inquiry. They can’t afford to go back home and tell their constituents that they voted to remove the duly-elected President of the United States because they didn’t like something he said in a phone call. It won’t fly. So Pelosi is walking this thin line between losing the House majority on the one hand and raising enough money for 2020 candidates on the other. It’s a joke, and a responsible media would report it that way.

But then, talk about fantasies.

All of the above which is why Pelosi has resisted having an impeachment vote so far.

The GOP should call her bluff and one of the members of the GOP should officially call for a vote on the house floor. Then let's see what the DEMs do. Do they call the vote or do they fold their hand. There is an old saying SHI# OR GET OFF THE POT. Y'all know what I mean?

I'd like to see that happen. That would be too funny and would set all the Dems to scrambling.

And to do this RIGHT. She MUST have a VOTE.

In fact, she will NEED TO have a VOTE to pass articles of impeachment.

What she wont do, is have a vote.

She needs this to be handled in the MEDIA. So she can say that she did what she could.

She's at her base, a COWARD.

The releasing of the transcript has really put them on their heels. They really just wanted to go on and on about what took place in that phone call and call witnesses behind closed doors and leak cherry picked information and spin, spin, spin which would have worked.

It seems that release caught them off guard and they just don't know when to fold and live to fight another day.

Its the same old tired playbook. They had an anonymous witness fabricate a story, Trump was going to deny the story, and they had a steady stream of anonymous witnesses lined up to confirm the fabrication justifying ongoing over reach in hopes of finding the real dirt and/or doing political damage.

Instead of folding up shop when Trump did the unexpected and released the phone call they inexplicably carried on and Schiff went on national TV with the fabricated story anyway that had already been proven false then they started to chatter about their 2nd "whistle blower" but finally started to walk back a little and now they are kind of stuck spinning their wheels.

Its like had kavanaugh had a body cam on the night of that party.
