Default Meet the 80 people who are as rich as half the world

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ON-people.html

Income and wealth inequality is blowing through the roof. The 1% has never had it so good while the 99% continue to try to keep from drowning or going to jail.

The group Oxfam recently put out a mind-blowing statistic that 80 people basically own half the world now. EIGHTY PEOPLE! And I know there will be all kinds of folks justifying this by saying things like, these people are innovators and job creators, and more productive and every excuse you can imagine.

However, if you go over that list you will see that nearly half of those 80 inherited their wealth. A large chunk of the rest of them just own assets--never created anything, but managed to get their hands on enough chips in this casino game to get hold of assets that were created by others.

Remember the famous line from the movie Wall Street, where Gordon Gekko says, "I create nothing, I own?" There you go. And most of the rest are finance guys (hedgies, traders, stock investors, etc.) whose only real activity is distribution of money--to themselves. The fact is a vast portion of the income of the wealthy comes from extracting wealth from assets...assets that they did not create.

The real innovators? Well, there aren't that many on the list. The funny thing is the real innovators, who really did change the world wouldn't even have made it on that list. Think about it. There are very few innovators, but lots of wealthy folks who smugly deride "redistribution," even though that's exactly how they've gotten their own wealth.

Other than blatant envy, what is your point?

Why are you so jealous of these people who have made it big time? Why do you even care? Howuch sleep do you lose at night plotting of ways to steal it from them?

Just another example of a leftist trying to change the meaning of a word to suit their purposes. When wealth is inherited in a family, it is not redistribution of wealth, it is protecting wealth. A whole lot different than the government taking it from peter and giving it to Paul, Bob, mary and Dashawn who did nothing to deserve it but they will vote for those who gave it to them. Here is a word thast means what it says, "Buying" votes with the money of others.

Well it's just plain funny. He finds some meaningless pictures and data then tries to make it fit some point. When Forbes post their richest in the world every few years or so, the same names aren't always on the list. In fact, I remember reading in one of my books that in ten years the list almost completely flips with new names. Those that found the, selves off the list only had to earn something like 5% return on their money and they word have made the list 10 years later. They didn't though and found their name replaced by others.

So look at his meaningless chart. There aren't any names. It just declare 80 people today have all this wealth. I bet most weren't there 10 years ago.

How much you wanna bet that if you extend the income groups down to the top 15, 20, and 25%... they would follow the same lines on the graph.

If the graph meant what the OP is trying to portray, the bottom income groups would show to rise closer to the level of the upper 10 % when the higher income groups dropped.
The graph does not show that.

Look at the huge difference in income between the top .1%, and the top 1%. Those two groups are not even comparable and they both trend together.

If anything, the graph shows that it is better for the poor when the upper groups rise, because the lower income groups rise with everybody else.

Who was it that said "A rising tide lifts all boats?"
JFK was the first to say it. Reagan not only said it, but put it fully into action.
The graph bears that out.

Bill Gates-Lib
Warren Buffet-Lib
George Soros-Lib

For all the pissing and moaning, there are probably more Libs on that list than there are conservatives.

Show us how the Koch bros and the Walton Family with the exception of Sam earned it.. Now you must know how they worked really hard to make the dollars right?? There is others in this boat as well. I just figured I would get the easy ones for you...
