Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

And ways of making sure the data can't be recovered?
I think that most of them work for the government... But I had the same thought... From what I've been told, data is never lost... Maybe Snowden will release the emails...

This administration has exceled in not knowing and ignorance of important things. They may not know, until they hear on the evening news that, that information can be recovered. They may not know it is stored in the NSA data base, or some other data base.

Snowden, may be a traitor, But He sure revealed a bunch of information, secret information on American people, average people, that we should know about. And did it without compromising field agents, and other sensitive information. Unlike this administration did with a Senior CIA agent in the field, here while back.

There is a silver lining in this story that you are all missing.

From now on when someone sues you and demands access to potentially damaging emails during the discovery stage of litigation you can just say, oh hell! The damned server crashed and all the emails are gone!

When Microsoft is sued by Little-Bitty-but-smart-and-innovative company and demands all germane Microsoft emails, Microsoft just has to say "Darn it! Those emails got lost when a server crashed! Oh, and it WASN'T a Windows based server in case you were wondering!"

Sarbanes-Oxley has for some time required companies to preserve all emails. I don't know how the government gets around this -- but a private company would have their ass in a sling if they claimed this.

They've used "Executive Privilege" already (Holder), the "really, it was an internet video" (Rice), now they've used "The computer crashed" (Lerner). The only lifeline they have left now is "Phone-a-Friend." I'll bet the President is now mortified that he picked Sheila Jackson-Lee to fill that role...

We always had a backup server. You can bet they have one as well, they just don't (want to) remember where they put it.

Yeah, there are but do you really think OBozo and his Merry Band of Junior Idiots will hire any to do such work? Fat chance of that happening.
