Default Digby — Williamsburg Accord: The GOP Pledge to Generate Crises to Get Their Way

Do you know what the Williamsburg Accord is? It's the GOP agenda for obstructing government in order to thwart the Democratic agenda and roll back legislation by defunding it. It's another agreement like the Norquist anti-tax pledge. The result is the factionalism that George Washington cautioned against instead of democratic government.

How about the Madison Project? Know what that is?

Why are Republicans careening toward a potential federal government shutdown? This is the inevitable product of a conscious party strategy.

Might as well post it here to bring this thread more attention.

I just saw dingy Harry at a press conference questioning "who do the house republicans think they are picking and choosing what they are going to fund?" That statement not only has to make you laugh but also shows how dumb of a majority leader the democrats have.

Reid treats Boehner like a grown-up. Boehner reacts as a child. Pressure is building on the GOP. Going pretty much like the party grownups said it would. Dems in the clear so far, and enjoying the popcorn.

Pressure is building on the GOP
Really?

The democrats are in a *very* weak position. The more they refuse to vote on funding portions of the government the more the democrats look like the "anarchists." Other than name calling and shutting down some parks the democrats are playing defense - responding to what the republicans do to them...and that is no way to win a fight.

And Reid will not even help a child with cancer so he can pout and blame the GOP. No games on their side at all.
