What do you all think? Are we more religious now than we were at our birth in the early to mid 1700' s? Have we come along or are we going downhill? What about the founding fathers? Just give your 2 cents how you feel towards these questions and I will give my insight later in the topic.

I agree with Strut are morals are slipping away.
As for the question it needs more input, what religion or religions are you asking about, what do you mean about more religious?
If you are asking whether people are more religious then the answer would be NO. Just because Joebob is going to church does not mean he is more religious. I just wonder what someone from the 1700' s would think about someone from today. You both go to church etc, etc.... BUT the person today lives in a fancy house with a boat, jetski, 4 wheeler, 2 trucks, hot tub, huge whirlpool bath, do I need to go on. The person of today would look like the devil himself. Just because someone goes to church does not mean they are doing it for the right reason, I know alot of so called religious people that go to church just so they' ll look good in the community. Just take a look at how modern man(human) has changed the bible around so it will fit there live style (gays are ok not just ok but they can be bishops, eye for an eye is gone etc....)
Now don' t forget there were still alot of native Americans that still practiced they' re believes(in the 1700' s) I would say the ones that still do(very few) are just as religious as they' re for fathers.
Like I have said you need to narrow your question down RELIGION is a HUGE topic and covers MANY believes.

Much less. And the proof of this is in what is tolerated in this country. Contrary to poopular belief " tolerance" comes from apathy, not from some religious compassion.
The issues that we fight with today, abortion, *****s, socialism.... these were no brainers back then.

Is the democratic party' s support for Bill Clinton' s behavior in the office of president a symptom of loss of religious conviction or purely a total loss of character...ethics...morels?
Is is this the same thing?

Speaking as a Christ follower, I say less. The good old USA is third, behind China and India in unchurched people. THIRD!!! Third world countries are sending missionaries to US because they see what a mess our country is in and how many people we are sending to hell every day with what some call religion nowadays. People that want to blame this person or that person for it need to ask themselves what have I done to change my corner of the world. Who have I led to Christ, what person have I witnessed to, and stop worrying about their neighbor or political figure. Put that energy into working for Christ.
