Rules Violations
I've been away from the forum for a bit and logged in today to find 4 PMs and some complaints. I'll PM some of the involved parties but in general I would like to ask for your cooperation in cleaning up the violations. Some of the main violations appear to be name-calling and a general coarsening of the public discourse in this forum.
Calling another member a name is absolutely prohibited and will get you temp-banned or possibly permabanned. If you have a problem with another member, PM or email a complaint and refrain from name-calling and engaging is a flame war.
***Please do NOT make disparaging remarks about a member's spouse or family. If you are foolish enough to bag on somebody else's spouse, plan on getting permabanned or, at minimum, a very long temp ban. That is despicable and will not be tolerated.
I realize that since this is an election year, politics and emotions are building at a feverish pitch. Pretty much all of us tend to lump all Democrats or all Republicans together as a group when a group may share the same political affiliation but doesn't always necessarily agree on every single item or issue.
I happen to be a conservative and Republican but have quite a few friends on this forum who are Democrat, Libertarian, Constitutionalists and possibly even an atheist or 2. I'm also related to Democrats who I hold in high regard. I obviously don't always agree with my friends in other parts of the political spectrum but I do respect them and enjoy talking with them.
I don't expect that all of you will agree on everything. That wouldn't be much fun and the board would stagnate. However, I (and HNI) do expect you to show each other some respect and not violate the rules. For all of you who play by the rules, thank you. For the very few who don't, stop making me have to edit so much. When I have to edit for an hour or so, I tend to forget the fun stuff I wanted to post about.

For all of you who are following the rules, thank you again. There are some incredibly bright people who post here regularly and it's a pleasure and honor to discuss issues with you without having to moderate rules violations. It's too bad that all of you couldn't replace congress as I think the country would be far better off for it.

Thanks for those of you showing patience when a few bad apples continue to violate the rules and slam you. The few members who violate the rules are getting edited and then given timeouts.
