Default democrats dont touch gun issue in debates

I dnno bout any of you guys, but I have followed all the democrat debates pretty closly myself, and they have not once brought up the issue of gun control or any other gun-related issue for that matter. I think this is a great step for us NRA members and gun owners, I think they are starting to realize (at least some of the democratic canidates) that gun control is something that they CANNOT win, and that they know they cant win so they dont get 4 million NRA members and millions and millions of other gun owners pissed for no reason Kudos to us I say!

It was brought up in one of the early youtube debates. Biden suggested that the guy who raised the question (he referred to his AR as "my baby") was nuts. Don't let them fool you. Democrats are gun grabbers, and I'm really worried about the kind of clowns that these clowns will put on the Supreme Court. Admittedly, some of the Republican field doesn't have a very good track record on this issue either, but, I think the Republican field would install judges who are more 2nd Amendment friendly.

Although it's good that Democratic candidates don't bring gun control up, it doesn't mean they aren't in favor of gun control and it definitely doesn't mean they will vote against it. Real pro-gun politicians are very open about it. Antis are hiding their viewpoints now and trying to duck the question.

As ipsc said, it was very much an issue during the YouTube debate (the format of which made a mockery of the entire system in my opinion).

The fact that they know they don't have the support to go talking about it in open debate before an election is a good thing. But letting them sneak in isn't. Make no mistake: The ultra-liberal Democrats like Feinstein/Kennedy/etc. will revamp their efforts to go after guns once they have strengthened their stronghold in the Beltway. I said last November that I didn't think guns would become an issue until after the '08 election, and I think that is evident by Rep. McCarthy's lack of support on her assault weapon ban renewal bill. It could be that the Democrats have learned their lesson. But I trust that reasoning just about as much as I trust a skunk to pet it.

I hate to join the media conspiracy crowd, but another side of it could be the moderators of these debates (which have been almost completely liberal so far) are purposely avoiding questions that have to do with issues such as gun ownership. CNN only picked the YouTube gun question, IMO, because they thought the guy made gunowners look like obsessed fools (although I thought his question was brilliant).

I understand that Bill Clinton wrote in his book -- whatever book that is -- that it was his opinion that Al Gore's open anti-gun stance lost Gore the 2000 election. Democrats get that and are keeping their true beliefs under wraps. My suggestion is that you don't trust a Democrat on guns until he/she has proven sincerity by voting pro-gun on several occasions. Some of these cats have never cast a vote one side or another on gun legislation -- Hillary? Obama? -- and so have no track record. I think even otherwise pro-gun Democrats can have their arms twisted by the more liberal heavy weights when the chips are down and an important piece of gun legislation is being voted on. Is this what happened to the Democratic senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota?

Yes, Im sure that alot of them are anti-gun, and I kNOW alot of them are anti-gun, but they're just keeping hush hush on it for now, as Alsatian said, that Bill Clinton beleives Gore lost the election cause of his open anti-gun stance. I HOPE no body who is anti-gun control and a NRA member and all that is pullling what Jimmy Carter and LBJ did, act all pro-gun in the race but after tehy get in they pull a full 180

Is there really any need to address this issue publicly from any of these Demorat candidats? It is a given that they are all liberal to socialist to marxist. They all beleive in gun control, the more the better. They would be perfectly happy and content if all guns in civilan hands were eliminated.

I'm sure that if the Dems get control of the White House and can hold on to Congress, watch out. If this happens lets hope that the Dems see gun control as a back burner issue, until the GOP gets back on their feet again. A Dem saying they are for gun control is like a pilot saying that they like to fly.....

Yep, The Democratrs are not talking about gun control. We all know why. It is poison for them. No doubt that if they hold congress and win the white house they will get out of the stealth mode will go into the gun control mode.i do not think it will pass the house unless the Democratswin about 30-40 more seatsin 2008.

Remember that the 1994 AWB passed by one vote. 76 Democrats in the house voted against the AWB and 38 Republicans voted for it. Ronald Reagan talked two pro-gun Republicans into voting for the AWB. Yep, Ronnie campaigned for the AWB. That made all the difference.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=3914967

The Republican front runners are just asanti as the Democrats. Romney signed the PRMA AWB into law. Rudy Baby sued gun makers. We all know what McCain is.

Too bad that wedo not have a a strong pro-gun front running candidate from either party. i ain'tvoting for the lesser of two evils stuff any more. Evil is still evil.

i gotta puke again.

Falcon, you have to remember they can't pass anything in the Senate without 60 votes.
