Some people just make you wonder how they ever made it past the 1st grade. [:@]

Arizona Principal Hesitates to Excuse Absences of GI's Kids
Sunday , March 25, 2007
TUCSON, Ariz.—
When her husband comes home to Tucson on leave from Iraq, Keila Rios could face a dilemma she finds infuriating.
She plans to take their children out of school for a week to spend time with their Army dad.
But when she asked for makeup work they could do at home, she initially was told they'd receive zeros if they didn't go to class.
The head of the charter school they attend declared the absences inexcusable and told the Arizona Daily Star that Rios' children would not be allowed to make up missed assignments. It now seems the principal is reconsidering.

I'm bettin' he changes his mind after the the first twenty seven phone calls from people who read about it in the newspaper.
If not, I guarantee a letter from your lawyer will do it.

This really pisses me off. A kid can be let out of school for weeks on end to go to Stock Shows and be excused at that, but not to see their dad who has been at war. Booooo hissss.
Right now, I have two students that have missed almost 3 weeks of school to go to stock shows, and all are excused. I dont understand the educational value of going to show and animal, especially when it is not a UIL sponsored event. Besides, half these kids are not even showing an animal, or never raised the animal they are showing. What a crock of crap.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Charter Schools. The parents cant go cry to a lawyer on this one. They chose to go to the charter school. Wonder if the family is likeing the school that is run autonomousof the state. Never made since to me for a state to fund a school that they have no power over.

My bet is this principal comes from the generation that never had to serve this country.
Its a shame we don't have his e-mail.Bet he'd change his mind real quick after 300-400 hundred e-mails from HNI members.
