RE: Toronto Hunting Show
The show is on Sept 6-8 this year.

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
I'll be there, we should all check this thread when we know our plans, maybe a few of us could meet for a beer.

I normally drop by after work on Friday and then come back on Saturday morning to do my shopping. Last year it was Moose for a theme, this year its deer. Looking forward to it. |

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
It's kind of ironic to have a hunters show in the big city where all the anti's are. After all this is the area of biggest support for the liberals that want to take away our guns.

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Do you think Alan Rock will be a guest speaker?

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
I wish Alan Rock would show up so hunters could boo the grap out of him. Especially since he plans to run for leader of the liberals.
What a moron! Love to give him a boot in the butt on his way out. |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
340,
I seriously doubt that Rock has the ba... ah, intestinal fortitude to show his face at a hunting show, especially in Ontario. Reality isn't his thing. This country will be headed down a sad path indeed if he heads the liberals. Otis is right on the mark with the parliamentary reform comment. |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Don't blame the liberals. They just happen to know when to call, what to say, and how to win elections. There were more conservative votes cast last election than liberal votes. If the PC and Alliance can't get together they'll never have the power to reform the government. So watch when Cretien decides to run again in 2 years (surprize).

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Otis -I realize that there are many hunters and shooters in ontario and yes they do deserve a show.I just find it ironic that the big gun shows are always in the large eastern cities where there are so many people who believe private citizens should not be allowed to own firearms.

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Tuffcity,
Alan like most politicians will make every effort to avoid confrontation that will make them look bad. But I have to agree with Dan O., its not that the Liberals are better than the Alliance or Conservatives; they're all money hungry thieves who care about themselves more than the country they represent, Mulroney was a perfect example of that and Cretien is no better. But unless those two parties can come together there is no way they can beat the Liberals. The Alliance can't even keep the same leader for more than 3 years at a time. Hate to say it but unless something weird happens in the next 2 years, Paul Martin and the Liberals will run this country again. As for Hunting/Gun shows being in Eastern Cities, its all about money. Its costs promoters and manufacturers a fortune to put on these shows, they target the higher population markets to reach the most people at any one time possible. Sad to say but its all about Marketing. Anyway hope to see some of you guys at the show. |

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Back to the topic....
My current plans are to stop in at the show for a couple of hours friday afternoon. Does anyone else plan to be there at that time? |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
Hey Rick,
I should be there around 6pm, depending on traffic. Will you still be around then? |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
340:
Probably not, but in case I am, I'll try to be near the Quakerboy booth at that time. It would be nice to put a face to some of the names. Rick |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
I'm going Saturday morning, I figure I'll head over to the Quakerboy booth around noon to meet Bosstom and try to weasle a free calling lesson out of him If anyone else is there saturday around noon follow the calling to us at Quakerboy.
(Hope you don't mind being a landmark Bosstom). See you there. PS - LeBarons has piles of $1 off admission coupons laying around the store. "guns aren't for killing people, guns are for killing dangerous and delicious animals" - Homer Simpson |

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
I have to agree with Otis...what a disappointment....the show is getting smaller & smaller each year.....at this rate in about 5 years there won't be a show.....really didn't find any deals either although I did by a new foam target for my crossbow practicing.....oh well, i'll probablly still go next year & the year after.......

RE: Toronto Hunting Show
You guys are right, the show seems to be getting worse each year but I wouldn't blame it 100% on the exhibitors. It's the layout that is all wrong. They put stuff everywhere without any thought or planning. It's a mess trying to get around and find anything. They should really think about relocating the calling area into another room, the crowds it created were too large for the area. I use the show to compare products without the pressure of buying, this way I can make the choice instead of a salesman.
As for pricing or sales, if they put some of the retailers closer together it might encourage competition. It would be nice to see some deals though, personally I didn't see any. Lebaron did have a 10% discount though, but I'm sure during the summer they have a 15% to 25% instore sale. Overall not really a disappointment just the same thing as last year and I'll probably be back there again next year. Rick, sorry I just missed you on Friday, Thanks to BossTom on the calling advice. Cheers |
RE: Toronto Hunting Show
For me the highlight of the show was seeing an extremely rare snake mullet. I got into mullet hunting 2 years back when someone posted a link to their mullet hunting site here, there was some fine plummage at the show (saw 7 classic mullets), but the mature snake mullet was probably a once in a lifetime sighting, even more rare than a fe-mullet. Between the dogs and mullets it was worth the $12, hopefully I win the o/u 20ga being raffled by the upland bird guys.
