Snow Geese this Far South
Yesterday I was driving just south of Ayr, Ontario (west of Cambridge) and a flock of about 50 snow geese (what I believe to be snow geese) were stopped in a field.
Do they normally migrate south. If so, this far south (or farther of course). Just wondering because I don't know. Mike |
RE: Snow Geese this Far South
Maybe the snow geese are heading north for the summer. We’ve had lost of geese around here, all Canadas and they are heading north.

Snows would be heading north this time of year and they winter all the way south to the Gulf coast.

Yeap heading north, around here both darks and snows are showing up on their trek to the artic. I was travelling in the southern part of the province last week and saw 100's of thousands of snowy's in that area, they are hitting the snow melts in the fields as the body's of water are still capped with ice..however with the warm weather it won't be long till they find some open water.

How close did you get to the birds? Could they have been swans. Quite a few swans migrate through the great lakes area. 50 seems like a small flock of snow geese.

Nope, Snows for sure. I was about 50 yards away but with the binocs, there's no question they were geese!
