Hiawatha,

I don't know of any in Canada. Just to the south of you in the states is The Colorado Institute of Taxidermy Training. They have a real good program there & afforable housing at the school. Jerry is the owner & head instructor they keep the classes small so you get more 1 on 1 time. The one thing that really made a impression on me was that Jerry would never let you mount a animal that wasn't anatomiclly (sp) correct, never let you lie to a customer & teach you the right wayto do things. I watched him mount a pearch that was no bigger than a shad(over grown minnow) for a 80 year old man. When he picked up his fish he started crying, it was his grandsons first fish that he had caught with his granddad & they didn't get a chance to go fishing again. All the other taxidermists in the area laughed the grandfather out ot their shop thinking it was a joke.
If you do go he puts pressure on you to do your best & remember "Everything is fixable"(he will show you that everyday)!;)

If you are willing to go to Wisconsin you should really go to American Institute of Taxidermy. I went there and was very pleased. I enjoyed my classes very much. If you are interested the website for the school is www.americantaxidermy.com.
