mullis56 if it were me i would bring an extra fuel filter, cans of spray de-icer and dont forget a good ice scraper. i changed my oil over to 5w-30 full synthetic and i thought it made a difference in start ups. i would also bring a jumper pack just in case your battery gets a little weak.most of the hunters would start there trucks and let them warm up for at least 15 minutes to a half hour before leaving in the morning. if you dont warm up your transmission fluids your vehicle may shift funny at minus 20. if your going the first couple weeks it may not be as cold. snow shoes are a nice option to have. you can get good deals on ebay but my favorite snowshoes are the new version MONTANA SNOWSHOES. they are made of lightweight plastic composite and are bear paw shaped. they were designed for loggers to provide tight turns. you can just about jog in those suckers. you can get a pare for under 50$. i think sportsmans guide has them but i would check ebay.if you decide to but a pair try to make sure there not the old style from 8 years ago made with a heavier rubber frame if possible. they will work fine but are much heavier. the way i would look at it is your going that far away so i would try to get or borrow at least one pair you could always re-sell them later on or hang them on your wall in your game room next to your caribou:D

I am off to the great north on Friday. Can't wait. For those of you who have been to Nouchimi, what do I need to bring for the European Cabins? Do the have pots pan and plates or do you need to bring them? Are the cabins heated properly? Is a 3 season sleeping bag OK? Thanks and will post when I get back....hopefully a picture of the Big Bou.

They posted an update this morning. If you're hunting the area around the Mirage outfitter and Donat Asselin the tagged cows are moving your way. I'm no expert, but by using the legend I estimate that they are 80-100 miles north of those camps. They moved south quite a distance over the last week.

I'm going arrive at "Northen Caribou Adventures", (AKA: Donat Asselin) a week from Tuesday. Where are you going?

I am going to Nouchimi from the 14th to the 18th. I think it is in the same area as you. Glad they will be there.

Looks like I'll be getting there at a great time (Nouchimi Dec 4,5,6,7)
we are 6 hours south of Toronto and plan to leave the afternoon of Dec 2.

How long are the days up there at this time of year? I'm guessing that the daylight is in short supply?

took my truck in to my guy for a block heater and he reccomended a dipstick oil heater instead. This'll be the third winter for my battery. I think I'll put a new one (highest CCA rating I can find) in before I go.

Been away for a few days (do have to work) and just looked at the map for you. Looks like they are staging around the larger reservoirs. They still need around 100 miles of travel but that is about right for a week up there. The good thing is you can now see the trans-taiga road on the map which is what you will be driving on and the herds are getting closer. Looks good.

I have already posted this but it doesn't matter which outfitter you are staying with, everybody hunts the exact same territory. Outfitters do not have assigned areas. You only use the outfitter to sleep and eat.

Everyone's getting itchy. Nov. 15 deer season in Michigan. Nov. 30-Dec.3 at Mirage, 1400 miles from my driveway. If heard movement is relatively consistent it should be a peak time. Good luck and safe trip everyone.
