I checked the New York State Hunting Regulations and it appears that animmals from Quebec do not have any restrictions for bringing in to New York Sate. Am I interpreting that correctly.
I'm actually booked with a group of 6 for Jan 15-18 at Mirage. According to other members comments find horns on bulls should be no problem if the caribou are in the area. I hope the experience is good and if I'm lucky get a European Mount for my bull or bulls. Well good luck on your hunt, but i will tell you that nov 15 is the start of the winter season and jan 15 is the last day of the hunt. as the new rule by the MNR has put in for the 2011 season!! so check it out!! I hear through the grape vine that marige is in bad shape so make sure all things check out ok before for your hunt, and as for the bulls haveing antlers good luck as most have or will be droped by then most drop by the first week in december, small bulls and cows will have antlers and very few big bulls will have antlers left by then. i hunt the 3rd week in nov found that the first 4weeks are the best, most of the time!! if you would like other info let me know. almost forgot you can not shoot antlerless bou any more, also new this year. so i hope you have a great hunt, let us know, LETS GO BOU HUNTING:deer: |
Nov 15-18
Sorry for the error on my last posting. The dates are Nov 15-18. The team does have the reservation statement and invoice so I hope that means at least we will be in camp.
Is there anything I should be concerned with or look out for at Mirage? |

Lodges are still pushing the MRNF for a normal year for 2011 and chanegs moving forward. Last verdict will be reached by May - the main issue is the fall hunt where more $$ is lost than the last month of the winter hunt. More hunters in the fall and more $$ per hunter - although costs are also higher.
Mirage and Kisk are both having a tough time - Mirage is hit also by the repossession of the properties and hunting rights - WO cost them a boat load and have left the lodge in poor shape, supply wise and mechaincally. We need to watch the state of affairs over the summer - I beleive the monies are committed for 2011 - the lost maybe too heavy on the margin side to keep these guys alive for 2012 - but in my opinion 2011 is a safe bet. Another Opininon - best 2 weeks in 22B is 22 NOV thru 30 NOV, speaking from averages over the past 12 years. Good luck to all and it is time to think Turkey.... |

Hope they find the herd healthier than they think I truly can,t belive somone hasnt been monitoring the herds closer Shame on Them!!! I truly feel for the outfitters they have everything into this and to have it drop like this just isnt right , It seems as though we are all at the mercy of BIG BROTHER once again SAD!!! Its always easy for somone to mico manage from affair in a cozy warm office , enough said , GOOD LUCK to all that go this year I hope to make the trip again soon if all goes good with the Herd :action-smiley-099:
