Controlled Tag Just Arrived
 

They definitely left the mailing of the Controlled Tags late this year. The tag arrived today and the season is next week.

We got ours last week, mid to end week actually.

Question for you experienced deer guys............. Is it possible to buy two deer tags in a year, use one for the controlled hunt and another for the regular season. The reason I ask is they are complete separate draws and the seasons are weeks apart?

May be a stupid question but a thaught?

Not a chance, only one licence allowed. You can apply for the controlled hunt as well as the normal doe draw and you can be picked for both. If you use your tag in the controlled hunt then no doe tag , so what most people do is save the doe tag and use a buds tag in the controlled hunt, that way when/if you hunt in the WMU that your doe tag is good for you still have a tag for does.

If the area that you' re hunting in offers a second tag you can do what you' re asking. If the controlled tag area offers the second tag you can save your doe tag for your primary area. Check the regulations to see if either of the areas you applied for allows 2 deer. You also have to hope that second tags are still available.

Thanks guys,

With all the deer in Ontario and all the associated problems you think this would be a legal way of allowing a hunter to take two animals and the government to make more money.
