RE: Peter Hathaway Capstick....
I' ve read a bunch of African hunting books. I' ve read all the Capstick I could find. Books I liked better were the capstick sellected series of books by early euro-african hunters. it' s a superb series, and one gets the real feel of why Big Game hunting was amazing, dangerous, and widely respected in it' s day.
My favorite book of all time is Killers in Africa, by Alexander Lake (I think). Only ever saw it in the Trent U library. But just a fascinating perspective.
Just checked Amazon, it' s available in all sorts of forms. Apparently someone else liked it, and has brought it back. That' s interesting on a number of fronts, because while Killers seemed very realistic, some of the stuff about Baboons in particular was over my head. I guess if they have reprinted it as a classic, it has the smell of truth to people who would know.
