RE: Ontario Moose Results???
2 Bull tags for my group of 5 this year!
We usually get at least 1 bull tag and have got at least 1 bull moose every year. Last year the hunt was done after the first 10mins opening day, hopefully it will repeat again this year. |
RE: Ontario Moose Results???
We received our one group tag this year. Something really weird about this lottery system. In the last 6 years of the group of 5 hunters in our group, only the same 3 people have received tags. Two of the guys have been shut out all those years, for one guy its been 10 years that they haven' t received a tag.
Definitely believe applying single increases your chances. 340, |

RE: Ontario Moose Results???
I own a large tract of land in 60a that we moose hunt on and we have not got a tag in 10 years, I walk up at least one bull every season, as I do alot of still hunting. Last year I had a bull standing at 25 yds., his nostrels flaring while raising his head from ground level to as high as he could stretch to get my wind(he stood there for about 10 min. b4 walking away) and this happened after I first saw him at 50 yds., I didn' t move or make any noise as I was looking for a calf. It knew where I was but didn' t know what had spooked him . Somebody mentioned a " points " system, in 60a there should be one.

RE: Ontario Moose Results???
I know approximatley where you are Seadog. Do you guys hunt deer there too? I have never seen a moose down at my buddies place he says they are around though. It is crawlin with deer only saw Doe last year and didn' t have a tag for any of them unfortenuatly. When do you guys head up for you hunt?

RE: Ontario Moose Results???
Syd, I hunt deer further north than moose (how' s that for a twist) , only about 30km north but still north. It' s just the opposite of where you hunt deer, mostly moose with a few deer and I bought the place for deer hunting, LOL. We as moose hunters have to do something about these @$%*^)! black bears, read an MNR paper on bears a loooonnnnnnng time ago and they where surprized to find out that in Ont. bears are the #1 predator of calfs. With the bush bulging at the seams with bears it makes one wonder when the MNR said " have to reduce tags because Ont. hunters have become to skilled at calf hunting, that' s why the herds are in decline in certain areas and overall recrutment is down " .
