anyone been out yet......shed hunting?? I' m thinkn of going this week but the snows to deep, might just go hunt dogs (yotos) and see what i might find

I haven' t found any yet, the snow is too deep here. We are in the process of getting 30cm more today. Went off trail on the weekend and the snow was thigh deep, made for some rough going. Found trails and feeding areas, but no sheds. I think I' ll have better luck once the snow melts down. Spring sure seems a long way off right now.:)

I went out for a couple of hours on Sunday and found 8 antlers...the only problem is they were still attached to the owners heads:D. We were around Red Deer and we scared up a dozen whitetails in a group, 4 bucks in all, still wearing bone. The snow was real deep too...gonna wait for it to melt a bit.

A few on the ground, but way more still on the head here. Snow is deep and too darn cold (-40' s with the windchill). Wait till she breaks to head back out. I did get 2 yotes on sunday:D. Ok I also missed a few. as well[:' (] Darn roadrunner;)

I was on my way to the airport the other day to fly with Fish & Wildlife of a sheep survey. I could see some odd tracks on the road ahead of me then looked to my left and saw a cow and bull moose. When I got to the tracks on the road it was where the moose had just crossed. There was a couple clumps of moose hair and one shed antler. I got out and piced it up and walked back to see if I could see the other anywhere close. The moose then spooked and it was actually two bulls . One with two and one with one antler.

About this time last year I was flying with F&*W and we saw a bull moose. As the chopper went over him he took off and jumped a fence. I was looking straight down on him and saw one of his paddles fall off. I meant to go there on the ground and pic it up but never got around to it.

Ya WAY WAY to much snow and cold here tooo
there calling for above zero temps by the end of the week so i might wander about but most likly wont find anything in 4 feet of snow

This just in my bud who is an outfitter up in north/central Sask. has found some brutes in the past week. Started off with 185 set of typicals, then went to a whooper of a nontypical at 123 one side and just found the biggest shed of his career. Ready for this...........103 Typical and only 5 points (he has one small kicker off G3 but otherwise is clean). Looking like mad for the matcher, cuz if the other side is close you are looking at a deer that is world record class. I am hoping he will take some pics and I can post them, I just got to see these sheds!

I too enjoy shedin, but havn' t been out yet due 2 the weather. -20 to -40 for the past 6 weeks strate. We also have 2ft of snow. What do U' s do with any antlers U find? Do you sell them, or keepem or what?

PB, welcome first off. Where you at??? I keep all my sheds, I have used some for rattling, but mostly they just hang in my rafters in the garage. I would mount a unique or big set in a heartbeat. I seem to find big singles and then my buddy finds the matcher and we bicker about who should get to keep the set, usually ending with us each going home with the single and a quiet trip home;):D! But is a great way to pass the off season, scout and know what maybe around next fall.

I live in Manitoba. I also keep a few around 4 rattlin, usually end up giving the rest 2 a guy 4 knife handles + such. I too wood get a huge pair mounted, if I could find both sides. Anything big, I only find one side.

No luck yet, snow is too deep . The weather is turning mild this week with some rain and that should take down the snow some. Maybe I' ll get lucky next time out.
