Canadian Outfitters??

I livethe Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan and am looking at taking a trip to Canada in two years.

I need some good outfitters.. Could you guys give me some names?
We are all sick and tired of chasing 100" deer and everyone shooting all the 1 1/2 year olds. Last year in the U.P. 73% of the deer harvested were 1 1/2 year olds. Thats Disgusting.

So, any info would be great..

Looking at staying around 3000-3500..

I've been in Contact with Northwest Outfitters.. Seems like a GOOD spot..

Thanks
Brad H

If you are interested I could most likely set you up with one of the top guides in Manitoba. I mean this guy's real good. PM me if you are serious for he is one of the best. Many references, pics etc.

RE: Canadian Outfitters??

We offer whitetail hunts in NW Ontario. NW Ontario is starting to be realized for it's trophy potential as there are some real monsters being harvested in our area each year. The benefit to hunting in Ontario versus the provinces to the West is that the pricing has not yet caught up to what they are charging. We have deer shot of all sizes in our operation, but it is getting better each year as we are getting more serious trophy hunters than just hunters. The largest we took this year rough scored over 170" and we had several in the 160" class, a few more in the 140" class, and then there were the smaller ones that should have been passed up. There are alot of good places in NW Ontario, but the Rainy River District has some of the best deer hunting and a big plus is that it is flooded by people from all over as there is a NR guide requirement for the zones that we hunt. www.gatewaynorthoutfitters.net
There are some really good outfitters all across the Western provinces, but Manitoba and Ontario are still the best bang for your buck. Good luck and hope you get a good outfitter.

I just got back from manitoba a couple of days ago. This was my second hunt up in that province. Most good outfitters are booked up a year in advance(they may have a couple of openings)the lesser quality ones are not and there is a reason for it. Unless you have spoken with someone directly who participated on a hunt I would be very leery on info that you may receive second hand or from someoutfitters themselves. You may be lucky if you go that route but be careful. If you want to talk shoot me a pm or emailand I will give you my phone number and I will give you my perspective from the hunter's point of view. Ido not want to insult any canadien on this forumbut I would like to give some honest 1st hand experience to mathewsboy

I know an outfitter who has great success each and every year in NW Ontario, which has now become the place to go in Canada for good trophy whitetails.
Would only be insulted if you spelt Canadian wrong LIAF ;)

I hunted NW Ontario this year and I know who I would not recomend. It seems most outfitters are fishing lodges trying to make some extra cash, not people invested in providing a quality hunt. That said there appear to be some good outfitters available I just didn't hunt with one.
