Firearms license

I am in Saskatoon, Sask. I want to get my Firearms license, but I cannot find out where and how. I took my hunting license when I was 13. I didnt get my FAC at that time. Can someone tell me how I go about getting the license.

You will have to take and pass a firearms safety course. Then fill out the forms for the "PAL" pay your money and wait while they do a background check. If everything is OK you should get your PAL in a few months. If you have already passed the firearms course you just have to fill out the forms for your PAL include your proof of passing the course and pay your money. If they check you out Ok you get your PAL in a few months. Note they will require a current photo and two people to vouch for you. Read all the instructions on how to fill out the forms. If you screw up they won't issue a PAL and you have to refile the forms, that could add a few more months!

You can get on line at www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca or you can call Canada Firearms Centre at 1-800-731-4000 to get info on who would offer the course in your area. Good luck...

You can take your fire arms saftey test at 15 but you have to be 18 to get a PAL.

Barett, you can also write/pay forthe challenge at the SWF (Saskatoon Widllife Federation) Clubhouse. She'll mark it for you while you wait and they usually have everything you need on hand.

If your not already a member, think about joining. A good organization and the only range in town. Shameless plug but worth a shot.

Best of luck

RE: Firearms license

Barett,no problem. BTW, I assumed you didn't want to take the actual course but rather just write a challenge exam. In any regard SWF has course information and the CFC Documentation on hand if that is the route you take.

The test is really common sense, most have little troubles acquiring the grade required, just carefully read the wording is all I suggest. Like any MC test...seeing your in school still I am sure I don't need to tellyou this though.

Good Luck
