Scope advice

I am buying myself a new shotgun for Christmas, and want to get a scope for it. I am looking at the Nikon Slughunter, and the Nikon Prostaff Shotgun Hunter. Any opinions on these 2 scopes?

The slughunter has 5" eye relief and a BDC 200 reticle.

I didn't see the Prostaff Shotgun Hunter on the website, as long as it doesn't have 3.5" eye relief like the standard Prostaff riflescopes I have then it would be fine for a shotgun.

This would be my choice.

Buy once, buy right, buy for a lifetime!

I figured you would not be coming on this thread to give the nod to either Nikon scope the OP has in mind after that other thread of yours!

So did you have any opinions on either one of the scopes I mentioned? I am not against other scope suggestions...

I'm really a Leupold lover myself, but if you like the Nikon Slugger and it has proper eye relief I would go along with our other member and say go with it!

I have the slughunter. Has been a good scope.

I would have to give a nod to the Leupold also. I have a 2x7 on my Remington 870 and it has held up great for 14 years now. It's only $40-$50 more than the Slughunter.

I am 13 years old and am getting a 7mm-08 and want to spend my money wisely on a scope any thoughts? I plan on using the rifle for deer, pronghorn, elk and any other big game animals.

welcome to the site
you will get more suggestions starting a new tread asking your question, rather than in an old tread like this

if you give us a ball park on how much you plan to be able to spend, we can offer some suggestions

and a little more info on HOW far you like to shoot at expected game
and last, welcome to the site

mehlig 06-05-2016 05:06 PM

I plan on shooting from 25 to at least 300 yards and price range is atleast $300.
