need Help for 12 yr old new hunter
 

I have a 12 yr old girl who is left eye dominant but shoots right handed
I'm trying to figure out what to do about her aiming with a scope any ideas? she can't see unless she leans her head over out of position.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would sign her and the whole family up for some good training on how to shoot a rifle. Appleseed Project is a good start. Check them out, good for the whole family.

Basic shooting classes are an excellent idea.

First things first - you shoot with both eyes open !!!


At first, put eye protection on her with a "paper dot" over the lenses on the left side of her glasses.


Buy her a left handed rifle ??

The scope magnification negates the dominance in many situations. For starters cover the left eye. Once she gets quick at target aquisition teach her to shoot with both eyes open, right eye, right gun. If she moves on to pistols later on no transition needed, she is used to obtaining sight picture with right eye.

I started out shooting right, until I realized that I was left eye dominant. For the last 15 years or so I've been shooting lefty but I switch it up once in a while. I still only use right-handed rifles, which makes for interesting conversation at the range when I have to work the bolt. I've also taken a few spent 12g shells to the face.

Are you saying that she leans her head over so she's aiming with her left eye but shooting right handed?
