Default Zeiss Vs. Swarovski

I'm looking to buy a new scope for my .300 win mag. After a few weeks of research I narrowed down my options to 2 scopes:

Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 $1000
Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 $700

They both have excellent reviews on most of the sites. The $300 price difference is not an issue, I just need your expert opinion to help me making a decision.

Thanks,
O

Most of us wish we used Zeiss; but if we could afford Swarovski, all the better !

I bought a Swarovski 3-9 recently to get the most upscale scope I knew of that would also be something to show.

I already had many Conquests, a couple of the older Zeiss Diatal 4X's, a Hensoldt, a dozen or so Leupolds and many Lymans before them.

The Swarovski is certainly handsome and the rifle shoots very well with it also however it's optics are no better than those other scopes.

My 243 has a 4.5-14 Conquest on it. I have a Leupold 6-18 on an old M70 Swift and another is a 4.5-14 Leu. Tac. on a Kimber.

There is a 3-9 Conquest on a longer range rifle.

If I had to make a shot and see the game when it was not easy I would choose a Conquest.

The Leupolds are the best looking and priced fair.

My current favorite rifle.

Not an expert but I have both the Z3 and the Conquest on rifles that I use. As far as "value", my opinion is the Conquest. As far as overall performance, my choice is the Swarovski Z3. That is what is mounted on my No.1 hunting rifle.

+1 with this. I have 3 Swaros and one Zeiss... that says it all AFAIC.

Thank you guys for your advice and help. I finally made my decision and went with the Z3 4-12x50 BT Plex.

I have two Z3 4-12x50s. The optics are superior to any scope I have ever used. I was in a tree stand one night after shooting light waiting to be picked up. Some does came out and I put the scope on them. It lite them up like there was an hour of legal light left. I couldn't believe it.

Also, you can get the Z3 for 20% less than the $1,000 retail price.

Best of luck . . . Rob

both top quality scopes, I own a West German made Zeiss, own many Leupold's VX-II 3-9x40, and on my .300 Win Mag I have a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x50. Leupolds are top quality and price is right
