Best Scope & Mounts for Rem 760
Got to replace an old fogged Redfield 2 3/4 x scope on my Pump 30-06 Remington 760. Sight Iron wants $80 to repair and I think I should upgrade instead.
Looking for ideas on a low power fast pointing scope for this gun. I think I need good eye-relief about 5" - lots of scopes like the Leupold VRX have only +/- 4" relief. Thought about red-dots but need at least 2-3 power to count points. AND these scopes are expensive. I'd like to stay under $500 even half that be better. A fixed or low power Variable may be the ticket. ALSO I want the versatility of shooting Iron Sights if /when hunting in heavy snow or rain. Currently the gun has old Weaver pivot - (Dad calls them flip over) mounts which actually seem to work well in returning to zero. If I go with a removable type mount I think the bases may hide the iron sights? Any suggestions would be great! Thanx OneShot60 |
I guess I'd be looking at a weaver / pic type rail and some QD mounts. Scope-wise, there are some Nikon's and fixed power Leupy's that would be a good fit. Additionally, I have a 4x Sightron SII that is great. It's now discontinued, but there are a few around. It's a dandy and fits your price criteria. Good luck.
