???? Scope for 7MM Rem. Magnum ????
Hey Guys.....I just bought a Weatherby sub-moa 7MM Remington Magnum. I am leaning toward putting a leupold VX-3 4.5-14 with CDS dials on it. I cant afford to buy the Huskemaw right now. I will be using it for Mule Deer in Wyoming or Utah, so I might have some pretty long shots. Anyway I was wondering what you guys would do if you were in the same situation. I am open to hearing any suggestions you guys may have. Thanks

There are a lot of leupold fans on here...............................and why not.
Some may say 14X isn't necessary, buy I use 4X-16X 44MM. My question is; how BIG is the objective ? I like to mount my scopes with low (medium max) rings, for better cheek weld. |
That would probably be a GREAT scope for that gun.

SOunds great to me. I personally would stick with a 3x9 but that's just my preference.

Leupold makes a great scope. I don't think you can go wrong with them. Ziess makes a nice scope too, I don't know if you've looked at them.

I have the VX-3 3.5x10 on my Remmy 700 7mm Mag and love it.

Leup 3.5-10 w/CDS or a 3-9 Conquest sent in for turrets.....would be bout the same coin

Perfect choice.

I personally have used a Leupold Vari III 2.5X8 for about 20 years on my 2 Model 700 7mm mags, 300 win mag, and 270. When I purchased all these scopes the 50mm objective was not available yet. That is the only thing I would change on each of these scopes, for the light gathering power.
The 4.5x14 is mainly a varmint scope used for long distant shooting, out past 300 yards on smaller targets where you really have to dial the target in. I think the 3x9 is probably the most popular high power rifle scope for any manufacturer. |
Another option would be a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 X 44 with the Rapid Z 800 on it. I wouldn't even consider a Huskemaw.
