redfield optics
 

I am looking to buy a pair of binoculars. Not wanting to spend a lot of money. I was looking at some for around $100. WHen I went to bbass pro they showed me some redfields for $150. I was surprised with how they brightened the image more than the other binos I was looking at. I had never even heard of redfield before today. My question is what kind of quality do they have. Is it worth the $50 extra for them?

I dont have much experience with redfield binocs but I have heard many good things about them. I just recently bought their rangefinder and love it. My dad has had his redfield scope for a long long time and we have not had any problems with it and IMO I like it more than his Leupold. Awesome durability is what i hear about them.

In 1998 the original company (which had a good reputation) closed down. Apparently the name and intellectual property rights were purchased by Leupold in 2008. They now manufacture Redfield optics.

Seems like Meade had bought Redfield before Leupold finally bought the name. There was a positive report about the Redfield/Leupold scopes on opticstalk a couple of months ago, havn't heard anything about the binoculars.

I think it changed hands more than once before Leupold bought it.

The original Redfield was a great company and always had great products.I have several of the original scopes and a pair of their binoculars.I can't speak for the taken over Redfield. They were taken over by Meade if my memory serves me right. Now Leupold acquired them. I'm sure they would be considered the lower end of the Leupold line. In with the Leupold Rifleman line.

If and I say if they are anything like the original Redfields I wouldn't hesitate buying more. I'm sure for 150.00 they are a fairly decent pair. You can get much better prices then at BassPro.

I've got the 8x32's, I really enjoy using them! I love the ease of adjustments and the brightness these binos offer.

Leupold makes the Redfield rifle scopes in Oregon but all the other Redfield products are made overseas.
