Bought a 77/22------

I recently traded a .22 and a little cash for a Ruger 77/22 in .22 Hornet. The gun has the laminated stock and the new, at least to me, grey finish. Not blue, not stainless, but a nuetral grey on action and barrel. Matching scope rings were already on it. I remember seeing scopes in this color listed, but I can not remember which manufacturer made them and if memory serves, I saw them availiable from two different brands.....Can any of you remember who makes these? I installed an inexpensive Tasco on it to try it out and I love the gun, it'll definately eliminate groundhogs, but the scope would'nt hold zero. I bore sighted it four times at the range, no dice, the scope is junk. I intended to put a new scope on it anyway, but Iv'e had a blue and a silver on it and it should have the grey----Thanks for any help you can give me.........John

I found one of the gun metal grey scopes, a Leupold, fixed, 2.5x28 FXll, but I'm not really very familiar with fixed power scopes so do not know if this would be a good match for a .22 Hornet or not. I'm also looking at a Bushnell 3200 3x9, which might be the better choice, any helpful suggestions would be welcome. The two scopes are about the same cost, around $250, so that is not a factor. I'm just not sure if the fixed power would be strong enough to take advantage of the ballistics that the Hornet does have even though I know it's not an extremely accurate cartridge. Most of my shots around here are 100 yards or under. What to do, what to do----------John
