looking for a rangefinder

I've read alot of posts on here about different rangefinders but I don't know how important the modes are.Is the rain mode or brush mode very helpful?
I can't afford a real expensive model.I want to use it for bowhunting and rifle hunting.I hunt where there are alot of woods and brush.300 yards would be the farthest I would ever shoot and that would be when I'm hunting the electric power or gas lines. Thanks for your opinion.

I have a Nikon 440 and it's all I've ever needed. I've owned more expensive models but I like this one better than any of the others.

Try searching on ebay or similar for the lieca LRF's which have been replaced by the CRF models (compact style of todays RF's). I've used a number and owned bushnell in the past, but now all i suggest or would buy is a lieca. Like RR stated they (Lieca) range what they state and also return the same range time after time unlike the others who use a larger laser beam/cone. I also have found the liecas to be much easier on batteries then other units. My lieca uses 9volt vs my bushnell that used the expensive POS CR batteries which froze easy and never lasted more then 3 months. Another plus in my opinion is the RED LED readout, makes it easier to acquire and see, especially low light situations.
