Binocs and scopes for eyeglasses wearers.

I know i've seen posts on here before for eyeglass wearers. Can anyone either direct me to the topic or refresh My mind with what optics work with eyeglasses. When using binocs with eyeglasses my area of view is narrowed down and seems like looking through a pinhole (kind of like looking through binocs the wrong way). I am looking into getting contacts, but will I have the same problem. Also types of scopes.

RE: Binocs and scopes for eyeglasses wearers.

The key optical characteristic you are looking for is eye relief. With binoculars most eyeglass wearers prefer binoculars that have at least 15 mm of eye relief in order to see the full field of view. Depending on how your eyeglasses fit your face you may need 16 or 17 mm of eye relief to see the full field of view.

Some things to consider...on any given model the lower the magnification the larger the eye relief typically. Also with some optical designs a long eye relief sacrifices the width of the field of view though that is not as common as it once was.

Your wearing contacts will make a significant difference in the level of eye relief you can tolerate.

Hope this helps.
