Weaver v10 2x-10x 38mm for .338?

[hr]
Hi posted under another section here and got some great info. Now im makeing a finnal choice of a scope for my .338 winmag. I think im going to go with a 3x-9x or 2x-10x rather then something like a 4x-14x dose that sound right? I looked into the weaver classic V10 2x-10x 38mm seems good for the money. Any input on this particular scope? Gun will be used for large game moose, elk, caribuo, ect...

You could do worse than this Weaver.

2x10, 3x9 x 40(ish) is spot on. Like mentioned weaver isn't the worst choice to make. However they tend to be a little short on eye relief which may or may not cause issues, maybe something to consider. 3.5-4.0" of eye relief is preferred by many shooters, many who don't shoot the likes of a .338wm;)! I have a zeiss conquest 3x9x40 on my 338wm and it has 4" of constant ER. WhileI have had no problems with shorter eye relief scopes onheavier recoiling rifles, I came pretty close in the past while hunting and wanted more this time around. Mine is for the same hunting purpose as you mentionedbut wanted to be able to load up the heavier grain offerings for the .338 if I need it in the future.

As skeeter mentioned, be careful on the eye relief. That would be my first concern when shooting the 338 WM. Shooting off the bench in ideal conditions may not be a problem but in hunting situations as mentioned could be different...
