Ziess Scopes

I want to put the Conquest Z600 on my 270wsm and the z 1000 on my 308 rem tactical. Have you used these scopes and how do they compare to like the Bushnell 6500?/
thanks

The Bushy 6500 glass is like that in the 4200 series.... good for sure. It's made by LOW in Japan I believe. IMO, the Zeiss Conquests are a tad better (but not much). The 6500's are 30 mm and the Conquests are 1". BTW, I have both a 4200 Elite and the Conquest with Z 600. In all honesty they would both be very good.

The Conquest Z800 is recommended for the 270 WSM and 7 mm R. M. This is what was printed in the manual when I picked my Z600 for my 7 mm R.M. Now I thought I was in a pickle being that I had the wrong reticle after purchasing my scope. I contacted Zeiss and they had suggested on going on line to verify the reticle with the velocity of the rifle. I would suggest to check it out for your self before purchasing your scope, just in case. As for the scope, I like what I see so far, although I haven't used it yet. Good luck...

I have the z600 on my 338wm and really like it.I used the RZ reticle websiteusing my handload data and then verified it on the range, only shot out to 400 but so far so good.:)

RE: Ziess Scopes

Which reticle matches up with .300 Wby Mag?

RE: Ziess Scopes

According to the Zeiss website:

z600 Standard Hunting: .243, .270, 3006, 300win, 325wsm, etc
Z800/Standard Hunting / ultramag: 300RUM, 3338RUM, etc.

So it appears 3000fps(ish) 600Z & <3000fps is the 800Z. Of course we all know that every rifle is different (fast bore, slow bore, etc)and actual load data vary's greatly (handloads, factory, etc). So this is really a guideline. As mentioned zeiss rapid z calculator website will tell you how to sight in and what each mark represents to your load data inputed. Of course this needs to be verified on the range but it's proven to be pretty good IME with the z600 and my loads in the 338.

The 300 wby would fall into theZ800, according to zeiss.

Thanks skeeter 7mm. I justbought the .300 Wby a few weeks ago and haven't settled on which scope I want yet, but the Ziess Conquest 3-9 is a contender.

The publishedMV by federal and win is 3200fps. This would put it in Z800. For S&G's I logged onto the rapid z site and using the z600 it does give you hash distances but wouldn't allow me to optimize the power setting - it's the power setting(relative to your max power)most accurate for the hash's in the reticle based on your load data. The z800 it did. However cross referencing the data it showed as follows:

z600 @ 9x : 3-315, 4-422, 5-535 & 6-644
z800 @ 9x with optimized setting of 8.66???(not sure how you'd set this and never seen it give such a number before??): 3-295, 4-394, 5-490 & 6 - 588

I hope it helps and don't worry about the rapid z site talk it is very easy to use..just harder to explain..lol;)
