Burris Scopes?

How do Burris scopes stack up? particularly these lines...

Euro Diamond?
Black Diamond?
Signature Select?

I've just always thought of burris, bushnell, tasco etc...as junk, I've only owned nikons and leupold vx-iii, I have 1 swaro, I'm not asking a burris to compete with the swaro, but how would they score against a nikon monarch, or vx-iii? Can any of these match up against a zeiss conquest?

I really want a scope in the 4.5-14x44mm range with a ballistic style reticle, can't seem to find someone who makes the exact scope I want, the zeiss would work if their 14x came with the rz600 reticle, not the rz800. Anyone know if zeiss has a custom shop that would build one like I wanted, kinda like leupold does?

I had a Burris Sig Select for awhile. It was nice enough with good glass. I just did not like it ergonomically and visually so I swapped it out for a Conquest. I'd suggest you put Sightron Big Sky on your short list.

The Sightron's (Big Sky group) are every bit as good as a Leuppy VXIII ...maybe better.

Burris is a very good scope for the money.

My Burris Fullfield II which as you know is a lower line than what you are looking at is probably my favorite scope I've owned. Much much better than the Leupold VX-I I own and was $23.99 cheaper and came with a free gps. Just seems to be super clear and pickup light really well. I also have trouble a lot of times seeing the crosshairs well in the Leupold where as the Burris has the ones that change color. It's normally black but if you put it on something black colored it looks gold. I really like that and find the cross hairs a lot easier to see. I love my Burris so far.

Of the 3 model lines you mentioned, the Signature Select is the only 1 I have 1st hand personal experience with. They are equal to the Nikon Monarch IMO. I've never had 1 to quit and the Posi-Lock feature basically makes them bombproof.

I also have a Fullfield II and love it. I also got a free pair of landmark binocs for free with the scope. I love the binocs as much as the scope. I think I paid around $200 total for everything.

Yup that's what I paid. $199 + tax for the Burris Fullfield II scope and a Garmin eTrex GPS.

I have the Burris Euro-Diamond 2.5x10x44mm with the Ballistic Plex on the 270wsm. Very clear and bright. The Ballistic Plex works well with the 150gr. load I am shooting. My partners has the Signature Series 3x12x44mm with the Ballistic Plex and they love them.

I have a Burris XTR 3-12x50. It is a similar design to the other high end Burris scopes. The lenses are very bright and very true color. It blew me away when I compared this scope to some $1000 scopes. This is not universally true at any price level. Also, some scopes get a good reputation which doesn't prove true to the eye. Use your eyes. Don't read about what others see. Sightron S3 models were also as good. It holds zero. 1 click = .25"@100yds of movement, or the best my rifle can do. With 1/2 to 3/4 MOA accuracy, it is hard to be sure the scope is exactly .25". It will box test all day long without missing a beat. I have shot 4 5 shot groups under an inch at 100 yards doing a box test, moving the scope for every shot. Not bad IMO.

The only issues have been. It had to be sent back to Burris twice and they had to send a part once for manufacturing issues. That was handled well enough. In addition, there are some design issues like the reticle should be FFP on this type of scope, the turrets should be .25 MOA, not inch, the eyepiece focus should lock on a tactical scope IMO, and the magnification twistie should not rortate the eyepiece(causes scope caps to move and interfere with the action.). The design issues are subjective and reflect my opinion only. Maybe those changes would add $500 to the scope, I don't know. Still they are issues, but can be overcome by user training.

I've got a 4x16x44mm Signiature series w/ ballistic plexon a bull barrel .308
A 3x9x32mm short mag w/ ballistic plex on an AR15
A 2x7 pistol scope on a Savage Striker .308.

All 3 have performed very well, look great to my eye and are Made In USA.
All 3 have 1/4" click adjustment at 100 yards.

My black diamond is clearer than my VX-III and monarch. But it also has 30mm where the other two have 1 inch tubes.
