Binocular Quality - Expectations? (For the $)
I recently purchased a pair of 8x42Binoculars from Cabelas $250and overall I am pretty happy with them. I did notice however when looking through the objective lens thier appears to be a slight blemish on the internal glass. It sorta resembles a slight finger smudge. Since it is internalI can't get to it to see if it would wipe off. I thought maybe the glass didn't get fully polished before assembly. I haven't had the bino's out in the field yet however I have looked through them a couple of times at home and everything seemed clear. I couldn't see the blemish when actually looking through the binoculars. It has been cloudy here the past couple of days though so I don't know if that would make any difference or not. I will be out this weekend so I will get a better test of them then. I didn't know what to expect as this is my first pair of binoculars that I have boughten new......others have been hand me downs. Would any of you be concerned with this, would you return them? Since I haven't noticed it when spotting (actually looking through them) I don't know if it's a big deal. Can this (slight blemish on glass) be expected on a $250 pair of Bino's? I guess my thinking was if I spent a $1000 on them I would expect them to be perfect. I would appreciate any input from experinced Bino users/purchasers
I wish you all the best this season, Good Luck. Ryan |
RE: Binocular Quality - Expectations? (For the $)
I would send them back and ask for a replacement.Tell them about the flaw.

I would also send them back and get a replacement. I'm super picky about that stuff and for even $250 I'd expect them to be perfect.
