RE: nikon scope
There is a HUGE difference in recoil's effect on a scope!
While rimfires and especially pellet guns, have a light recoil, it is a DIFFERENT type of recoilthan a larger "centerfire's" recoil! It will eventually damage a scope designed forhigh power. Likewise, the recoil of a high power cartridge will distroy a rimfire scope in short order! |

ORIGINAL: dem4570 i found a nikon staight 4 power scope on clearance. but it was a rimfire scope. what is the difference between a rimfire scope and a scope for a highpower, or muzzleloader scope? .................thanks dave I have the rimfire scope you mention, & it's splendid. I do, however, have it mounted on a rimfire rifle. If you want to mount the scope on a centerfire rifle, then you should check out the 4x40 Buckmasters, or similar. Actually, I found a 4x Monarch on Budsgunshop.com - I wasn't aware they even offered them in the Monarch line. FC |
RE: nikon scope
1. Recoil.
2. Fixedparallax setting isusually 50 yards on a rimfire scope, 75 yards on a shotgun scope, and 100 yards on a centerfire scope. |
