Choose the reticle you like best. I'm a simple guy and prefer the plain old duplex crosshairs. I have a 4.5x14 leupold and love it. I sent it to Premire Reticle a few years back and had an elevation knob installed. That makes for a pretty nice set up. The bad thing is Premire no longer does this to Leupolds. Leupold has that 4.5x14 in a 30mm tube with side focus that looks sweet. While I don't have the 4.5x14 side focus I have a few of the 8.5x25 scopes with it and they are great. The side focus in my opinion is worth the extra $$ on a hunting set up.

If you plan on shooting over 300 yards go with something that has an easy to use elevation knob. Go to www.biggameinfo.com and print yourself a drop chart. Go to the range be sure it works. Go hunting Click to it and shoot. Thats much less confusing than all those lines or dots in any scope.

The monarch is definitely a better scope. I don't have a monarch, but I do have a buckmaster, and it has done me very good. Very crisp clear images, even in low light and I couldn't be happier. As someone else stated earlier, you can't get a better scope for the money...especially when compared to a Leupold.

Buy the Nikon, don't waste your money on the Lupy. I bought a MK 4 tactical, spent close to a grand on it. 5 whole shots and the reticle broke. IMO leupold quality has suffered a ton in the last 10 years or so. They got so wound up being the big guy on the block with the big reputation that quality started to suffer. They still have a good warranty, and great customer service, but do you really want to be dealing with great customer service and warranty when something breaks at the most inopportune time, say a hunting trip out west???

Go for the Nikons .... Leupold is relying on their name these days.... their quality is not what it was 10 years ago.

I don't care what anyone says, you will not find a better scope than leupold. For reliability, i shoot long range and nothing compares for clarity, andtrue retical movement. I have used the monarc good scope but the retials aren't true when adjusting constantly

Take a look at the Sightron with hunter holdover reticle. Awesome scope, glass, and warranty.
