The less of two evils.
I need some help on a decision.
I just bought a Tikka .204, great long range rifle. It came with a Burris 3x9 scope, very nice scope but I believe it is underpowered for this rifle. I also Have a .17 HMR that wears a Bushnell Legend with a 15x zoom, works great on the .17. I am going to buy a nice scope for the Tikka down the road, when I recover form this rifle purchase, in the meantime I am considering switching the Burris off the Tikka and slapping the Bushnell on it. Any thoughts on this? The Burris is a real nice scope, but hard to drive small groups past 100 yards with a 9x. I simply do not know what to do, do I sacrific a bit of clarity for more zoom? |
RE: The less of two evils.
Never sacrifice clarity for zoom......I've learned this, I had a cheap spotting scope, and my leupold vx-iii at much lower power was much crisper, I could see bullet holes that I could not see with the spotter even at higher power etc...
clarity/quality glass is more important than zoom, ie more functional. I mean if it was like a close call, zoom may be beneficial, like a swarovski 2-7 vs. a leupold 4-12, sure that leupold could be better for your particular situation but magnification without quality you'll be back where you started. |
